Testimonials

‘I wanted to properly thank you for sharing your knowledge and guidance as my coach over the past 5 months! Each meeting has been a welcomed (and welcoming) milestone and I have immensely valued the opportunity to take a step back from the weekly madness to reflect on a variety of topics, with your insightful support. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to focus on a variety of topics, covering an array of issues from leadership, to conflict management, assertiveness, team working, inductions and departures. I’ve felt both continually encouraged and suitably challenged during our sessions and they have enabled me to look further ahead towards future opportunities both within and outside my role, and beyond the parameters of my role. During the sessions you have remained patient and open-minded, and have been an excellent listener, all of which have been immensely helpful in contributing to the sessions’ productivity and efficiency’. Clara, global health professional

‘I found the coaching sessions with Helen really helpful. I liked how Helen has a very open and questioning coaching style that prompted me to think for myself and gave me space for self-reflection. Helen has a warm and compassionate approach that made coaching feel like a safe space to explore key issues at work. I also found some of the more structured work such as strengths psychometrics were really helpful and I am still using these. It was a really valuable experience, probably the best development I have done. I was really grateful for the opportunity to work with a great coach.’ Samantha, graduate trainee

‘I’d like to recommend Helen’s for her coaching service as I benefited from it greatly. Her ability to carefully listen gently challenge and enable self-reflection is really striking. She adapted her coaching to my style and personality and was able to use creativity in the way she helped me evaluate situations and solutions – which I found very refreshing. I could draw, write, or speak about my challenges and she was so receptive to my communication style. Helen was holistic in her approach at all times and also recommended other forms of support when realising that my professional development areas were more complex than usual. Helen extremely professional at all times and I felt that I truly made strides in my self-development thanks to her insight and guidance. I cannot recommend her more.’ Maria, Senior Equality Diversity and Inclusion Manager

‘Helen was an absolutely fantastic coach, and I found the whole experience much more helpful and impactful than I'd expected. I was struggling with (lacking) confidence and imposter syndrome which I've experienced for many years, with some significant impacts on my mental health at times. I've noticed a real, tangible improvement in these areas since our coaching sessions began. Helen asked brilliant questions which guided my thinking, helped me to understand the crux of the issues I was dealing with, and supported me to find solutions. I felt heard, understood and respected, and safe to express myself and work through things without fear of judgement. We did some helpful exercises together and I felt motivated to reflect on / implement what we'd discussed in sessions in my own time. Overall a fab experience’. Tom, Novelist

‘I entered into a coaching relationship for the first time with some scepticism as someone who (you helped me realise) has been overly self-reliant for much of my career. You quickly put me more at ease with clear advice on how in control of boundaries I was, whilst encouraging me to be as open as I was comfortable being in order to get the best out of our sessions. You made me realise it’s ok to ask for support and not a sign of weakness. Your guidance and encouragement helped me to disassemble quite rigorously my recent past experiences and gave me the space and just enough nudges to explore the underlying issues, develop my own views on what alternatives I could pursue and finally helped me to make my own decisions, that I can basically chose to be optimistic and positive about a future career I have control over, rather than remain negatively focussed on things that haven’t gone so well in the past. I was truly impressed by how skilfully you did this; just the right amount of questions, inferences and challenges; you never took the problems or the solutions off me and what we’ve come to is genuinely my solution, but not one I could have worked through without your guidance. You were also quite deft at selecting the right tools and techniques to help me explore; early on to recalibrate my own views on my past history and looking forward in the latter sessions to help me set a more optimistic view of what the future holds. On reflection, it strikes me you may have planned that all along!’ Jim, Consulting Fellow

'Working with Helen has given me the time and space to reflect more deeply about challenges at work and address my “imposter syndrome”. This has built up my confidence and helped me to prepare for a work assessment and promotion. Identifying and reflecting on my strengths with Helen and using positive psychology has also helped me to clarify my future career aspirations. I have learnt a lot, both about myself as well as strategies that I can use at work in the future'. Eddie, Programme Manager

‘The coaching gave me licence to be more like myself at work, and less withdrawn. I was finding my job difficult as it was difficult to see where I could add value. Our discussions and exercises allowed me to identify and play to my strengths, going “back to basics” in terms of what my core values were, and giving me space to reflect on these and how to apply them at work. I also felt a lot of value in taking the time to talk through the issues I was encountering and being challenged to discuss these. I was given the space to open up in doing so. I have since felt more confident at work, and have taken advantage of my more natural skills. The coaching also allowed me to change my perspective on my approach to work and careers, and that it is alright to look outside of your subject area and more towards what you enjoy doing. This gave me the confidence to apply to a new role where I had very little experience but a strong skillset, and I have since been offered this new post’. James, Civil Servant

‘I had just been promoted when I stared the coaching, and gaining confidence was one of the main objectives for coaching. Helen helped me to identify specific circumstances when my lack of confidence could be an issue and to develop techniques to boost my confidence. As we identified specific situations where I would be able to practice the techniques, I was always able to put them into practice and to see the results right away. I would then discuss the results with Helen at the following session, which would help me to reflect on and embed my new approach. Conversations with more senior colleagues was an area that I was particularly concerned about and using the techniques that Helen helped me to develop has helped me a long way. This hasn’t been my first coaching experience, but it has certainly been my first successful coaching experience. Helen has been an excellent coach, who understood from day one what my needs were, helped me to identify techniques to tackle my concerns, and has helped me throughout the sessions to remain focussed and to review and improve the techniques we discussed, to obtain the goals we set at the very first session. I am really grateful to Helen for all her work and help’. Jaume, Head of People Management

‘My reason for seeking a coach was because I had recognised in myself that ‘imposter syndrome’ was having an unwanted impact on my professional life whilst also linking in with my personal life.  Following our initial conversation I was reassured that I had taken the right step, when I met Helen her calm and supportive approach immediately resonated with me.  Helen empowered me to look forward to my goals whilst also being supportive to reflect on my past and how I had arrived at the cross roads I was at in terms of my future career.  Helen’s approach to coaching is genuine and authentic yet challenging enough to draw out my best self.   I recognised a noticeable shift in myself within a short space of time from starting coaching and the momentum for change was in motion.  Helen played an important part in this and I am extremely pleased to have worked with her over the past year and would highly recommend her to any of my colleagues, thank you Helen’ Heather, Business Manager

‘I decided to seek out coaching when I was unsuccessful in applying for a senior development programme, and more generally had had a stressful time at work. My confidence had taken a knock and I was feeling uncertain about how to take my career going forward, balancing work and home priorities. Helen has helped me to build confidence at work and to clarify my thinking, so that I have a much clearer plan. I took forward specific actions from each session and now feel more relaxed in my existing role, but with a more targeted approach to seeking out promotion. Helen provided an open space for me to talk through issues, with helpful prompting questions which drew out thoughts and issues that I hadn’t been conscious of. I have found it very valuable and would certainly recommend Helen to others’. Rachel, Civil Servant

‘The coaching sessions with Helen enabled me to identify my concerns for the future, my fear of getting old and not having enough money and the weight of responsibility I felt being my families major financial contributor. Identifying these concerns allowed for a more in depth investigation on what action I could take to address them. Before coaching I had been stuck and frozen by the situation. Coaching enabled me to become unstuck and to take action. Helen is very calm, and does not get flustered by any reaction. Helen is totally non judgemental and has great empathy’.
